Edtech Vision 2020

Edtech Vision 2020

There are so many reasons to be optimistic and to celebrate edtech – education and learning technology – across our nation. Educators and young people are pragmatic and often behave with realism about technology that can sometimes seem to be missing in some debates.

Growing a sector is never easy nor is system wide change. We will have to work in new ways, with partnerships being key. This document will help to focus thinking and action on the next steps for what is a jewel of Britain’s digital economy.

There is still much to learn from how other countries and other sectors, such as financial technology and health technology, have approached maturity in their development, efficacy and impact.

Our Edtech Vision 2020 looks at a range of priority areas, including seeing the UK as having the most connected schools, colleges and universities in Europe, being the most open in the application and use of data, a global centre for edtech skills and employment; all underpinned with measured efficacy and impact across the system.

The Edtech Vision 2020 discussion document is a contribution to policy development and growth of the UK’s education and learning technology sector. The Edtech UK vision will also contribute to the work of the ‘Building our Industrial Strategy’ throughout the UK.
