On 28 November 2011, we officially launched The Education Foundation and our launch publication Education Britain at the House of Lords in Westminster – photos of the event are here.
Education Britain: the journey to education reform details the thinking of 35 of the UKs leading educational thinkers and influential international experts. Areas covered include educational system change, the need for voice as well as choice based reform, redressing the academic vocational divide and visions for the future of education in England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.
Experts from across the education and business sector identify a wide array of potential changes to the education system, including tax breaks for parents in poor areas; a change in culture in independent schools; more autonomy for state funded schools; and developing children to become entrepreneurs rather than just employees.
It is a landmark report for the UK education system that includes supportive statements by high profile figures across the political spectrum including: Michael Gove MP, Secretary of State for Education; Dr Vince Cable MP, Secretary of State for Business, Innovation and Skills; and Stephen Twigg MP, Shadow Secretary of State for Education.
