Ian Fordham is the Co-founder of The Education Foundation and CEO of Edtech UK – a new strategic body launching in the Autumn of 2015 to help accelerate the growth of the UK’s education and learning technology sector in Britain and globally.
Ian is recognised as one of the UK’s leading education entrepreneurs and an expert in education and learning technology. He has 20 years experience in the education, technology and policy world including: writing a number of landmark reports on the future of technology in schools and colleges, an adviser to startups, technology companies and national government bodies and was a member of the cross Whitehall Education Technology Action Group (ETAG), is a Tech London Advocate and a former teacher.
He has led major projects and collaborations in Europe & the USA with Facebook, IBM, Samsung, Google, Skype and Harvard University, as well as setting up and running the first Education Reform Summits in Britain, with the Department for Education and Mayor of London. He was previously Deputy Director of the British Council for School Environments; Head of Policy for ContinYou, the national charity responsible for scaling up the Extended Schools agenda; and Training Manager for Education Extra, the national out of school hours learning charity and is a former state secondary school teacher.
